Wakefield 2009Previewing the biggest show of the year... The premier RISC OS show of the year has been confirmed for 2009. The venue has stayed the same as last year, The Cedar Court Hotel, just off Junction 39 of the M1 motorway. The show will take place on Saturday the 25th of April opening at 10am and closing at 5pm. Entry to the show costs £5 on the door, with children under 12 getting in free (provided they are accompanied by an adult). As the show takes place on the first floor disabled access is via the lift. As usual you can expect to see most RISC OS companies in attendance. The full exhibitor list has still to be confirmed but Foundation RISCWorld does know that a number of stands have already been booked. There are a also a number of sponsored "small developer" stands available. These are cheaper than the normal stands and have proved to be very popular with Shareware authors in the past. Talking of sponsorship, this year Advantage6 and MW Software are sponsoring the show itself. The show theatre will be making a welcome return, allowing a number of companies to give talks and run public demonstrations of their latest developments. Currently the theatre slots are still to be booked, but I am sure that both RISCOS Ltd and RISCOS Open Ltd will want to take at least one slot each. The charity stall will also be present, stuffed with all sorts of Acorn related goodies. We have picked up a number of bargains from the charity stand over the years. As well as selling second hand items there will also be an opportunity to recycle unwanted mobile phones and used printer consumables. All the proceeds will go to The Wakefield Hospice, which is a very deserving cause. If you are coming a long distance to the show then staying at The Cedar Court Hotel the night before will mean you can be one of the first in line for when the show opens. If you do book then it might be worth mentioning that you are visiting the show and negotiating a suitable discount. More details on the show will be available from the show website as they become available. We hope to see you there. Foundation RISCWorld |
